UCP European Host Closure

Sorry folks but Carlos has just informed me that he will be closing the European Host due to bandwidth limits, which in a way is very good news.

So I thank him and his brother for the valued help he provided over the last month or so, thanks so much to both of you.

Other news about the UCP is that my main Host provided by Griffin from the Crusade 3 Tournament will also be down until the 1st January 2004.

I've also tested Gaderath's link also and that seems to be down also, so i'll have to email him and ask if the bandwidth is up on that also.

So sorry it seem to be unavailable for the present, so if you haven't got it you will have to wait a little longer.

So I'll take this opportunity to ask again if anyone else would be interested in permanently hosting the UCP please contact me.

Anyhow sorry and I hope you all have a Happy New Year!

"NEW" Preybird Fighter Released

An early Christmas Present for you all, that's right another NEW Fighter released, the Preybird Fighter, the Dxf was originally made by Wraith1, the pilot was made by Saxman, the Hull textures where made by M&M (Jonathan Eloff) and the Cockpit & Pilot textures where made by yours truly.

This is also the first fighter to have a coloured Pilot, also instead of a Xmod its in its own EXE file. Don't worry it's compatible with or without the Ultimate Craft Pack, and it also correct a small error with the Preybird in the UCP.

To download it and so see some screenshots please go to the XWAUP General Fighter section.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

UCP Bandwidth Problems

Just received a message from Griffin who hosts the UCP and C3T Craft Patches, for those people having problems downloading them we have gone over the limit of Bandwidth available, originally it was 20 Gigs a month, but just over the last few days of release it has been exceeded, Griffin informs me that he should have another 40 Gigs available within the next 48 hours, so please be patient and please don't start complaining.

Please look for further updates soon!

ULTIMATE CRAFT PACK v1.1 RELEASED

What's changed, well hopefully all text bugs have been fixed, I found that some of the resolutions for the TIE's where wrong along with a few other items.

As you can guess I've added Marco's Cloakshape Fighter and Escort Shuttle the Container Transport and two of Gringlas's yet unreleased XWAUP Containers. The Calamari Light Cruiser was fixed due to a problem with AI craft landing on it.

Forgot to mention that the Z-95 and Y-Wing are now fitted with LOD's.

If any of you think about using any of the DAT pictures or craft to release in your mission patches or craft updates I would appreciate it if you contacted me or any of the authors first for permission.

I'll reiterate the license agreement for you if you can't be bothered to read it from the patch.

It includes in total an astounding 270 enhanced opts, which include exterior, base, cockpit, hangar, stations, starships, shuttles, transports, containers and freighters. Depending on which configuration you have chosen between 257 and 260 will be installed.

You have the choice of resolution for the various TIE's that feature in the pack, the choice of hangar and concourse you wish to install, Rebel or Imperial. You also have the choice whether to install the 17km Super Star Destroyer or continue using the incorrectly sized in game Totally Games version.

I have even given you a choice to install a version of the Slave 1 with yellow lasers (the only drawback to this is that you hear a different laser sound). Oh and the choice to install a cloaked version of the TIE Phantom or not.

I have also included enhanced sound effects provided by Wes Janson, Ace Antilles and Cornhelium, which you also have the choice to install.

All the Ship Dat pictures have been remade and I mean all of them, around 230 in total.

Last but not least I have included a modified BHE module specifically for the UCP.

The Craft Pack has been tested with all windows operating systems from Win98/ME/2K/XP and XP Pro and found to be compatible with all. Total size of the UCP is 178mb, so unless your using a cable modem or broadband I would suggest you use something like FlashGet or Download Accelerator Plus
to download the UCP.

Last but not least I would like to thank Griffin for hosting the Ultimate Craft Pack and its sister Craft Pack specifically made for the Crusade 3 Tournament, there is a slight craft difference between the two packs but basically are the same.

You can download the C3T from the

Crusade 3 Tournament

website.

I would also like to thank all the craft authors for allowing me to include their work in both packs.

To download and for all other information and enhancements on who made what please click on the banner above or the link on the menu bar. Before you download the UCP please take the time to read all the information concerning the UCP, this will allow for any confusion before installing.

"NEW" Cloakshape Fighter and Container Transport

You've probably seen the Container Transport at the XWAUP, so I won't go on about it, only to say thanks to JC for the use of the Container Brick and to Gringlas for the use of some of his Modular Conveyor parts, anyhow you can download it from the new XWAUP Freighters section.

The main news that I'm really pleased to bring you is Marco Antonio Malheiros New Cloakshape Fighter, this wonderful looking craft comes with Exterior, Cockpit and Base Opts and is in a Xmod format for easy installation you can download it from the General Fighters section.

Last but not least I apologise to ATX and Koollook, but their Cloakshape will be replaced with this new version of the craft in the Ultimate Craft Pack, again sorry.

Hopefully the error free Ultimate Craft Pack v1.1 will be posted tomorrow, so it should be available with in ten days of posting.

"NEW" TIE Vampires Released

This collaboration between General Trageton and myself, we bring you the TIE Vampire and the TIE Vampire MKII.

The TIE Vampire is the first ship that was built in collaboration between Sienar Fleet Systems and the relatively young company ShiCon Dynamics.

Fast, agile and well balanced it is an excellent multi-role fighter. Due to its high costs, it's only reserved for the best fighter squadrons and thus has gained the reputation of being an elite fighter.

The TIE Vampire MkII is an advanced version of the TIE Vampire which is fitted with a new prototype of stealth plating known by the codename "cold skin".

Like a 'real' vampire that has neither measurable body temperature nor a reflection, this new technology hides the ship from both visual and biothermical scanners.

Please note that the TIE Vampire Mk II is a cloaked version and has had it's LOD removed, but will appear at a distance of around 0.5km from your craft.

You can download both versions from the New Imperial Fighter #4 section or from General Trageton website Blue Phantom Project

Enjoy!

X-Wing Cutscene Replacer v1.0 Released

Isildur's Cutscene Replacer has now come out of the Beta stages and has released version 1.0

This is a cutscene replacer for X-Wing Alliance. It replaces the tgsmush.dll file located in XWA's main install directory. A new file called tgsmushorig.dll is added. In fact it is the original tgsmush.dll which I call when I need to play the original .snm movies.

What it does is that if there is a movie file with an .avi extension in XWA's \movie directory, then it plays the custom one instead of the .snm movie. The .avi files must have the same name as the .snm files except for the extension. If it only finds the original .snm, it will call the original tgsmush.dll to play it.

Ex: tgintro.snm is the Totally Games intro cutscene. If my dll finds a file named tgintro.avi, it will play that one. If it doesn't find the .avi, it will play the original .snm.

You can download the New version from the Miscellaneous Files section.

In other news I'm sorry to have to say this but I had to stop my host from releasing the Ultimate Craft Pack, due to a issue with the installation DIR, the version I had sent him would only install to the default DIR of C:Program Files\LucasArts\XwingAlliance. It was pointed out to me by Ace Antilles that not everyone install XWA to it's default DIR, so with the new versions which I will be sending on Monday (Fingers Crossed) it now takes the install path from the registry, so if you installed XWA to F:\Joe\Bloggs\Was\Here, the UCP will install to that DIR.

Anyhow sorry for the delay, they say that patience is a virtue and I'm sure that you will be pleased with the finished product.

Enjoy!

XWA BHE Module 1.3 Released

It's not much of update, it just fixed a bug that has been in it since version 0.93 this is the earliest version I have. It might have been in there since the first version for all I know,

Plus I have added the Mission Pictures info into it.

The bug was just one line in most of the CSV files, if you open your existing 1.2 BHE module or any earlier versions and go to line 128/289 *Freighter Type P/Tanker, you will get

Run-time error '52' :
Bad file name or number

Pop up each time this is due to the "/" forward slash in *Freighter Type P/Tanker so I have removed the /Tanker part and now its called *Freighter Type P.

It seems as though BHE doesn't like "/" forward slashes in the names.

You can download the updated version from the BHE Modules section.

In other news I have finished testing the Ultimate Craft Pack, and will be sending it to my host this weekend, I tell you more about it when the time comes.

Enjoy!

XWA DAT Customizer 1.0 Released

XWA DAT Customizer has now come out of it beta stages, and now Isildur has released his final version 1.0.

If you don't know anything about it, I'll let Isildur tell you about it

This tool gives you the ability to view, export and edit the bitmap resources contained in the .dat files located in the X-Wing Alliance Resdata folder. You can also create new custom dat files. This tool will eventually replace DATech, the only other .dat editor, which is in an unfinished state and can only edit a small portion of the dat resources.

I think that should explain it a little more.

It now available in it's own installer, which also installs the necessary VB support files, Isildur has also made a help file for you.

The file is now available in the new Dat Editors section.

There is also a light version available without the VB support files at Isildur's website Virtual D@t@ Design

Other news Ace Icons has a batch of new Terminator 3 icons for your pleasure, just click on the quick link above to check them out.

Over at the X-Wing: Alliance Upgrade Project they have released two versions of the ISD, Matt who made them has done a wonderful job on them, so you had better check them out.

Last but not least I have added a link to new Mission Creation Tutorial made by RogueWing, just follow the menu bar down to the Tutorials section, you can't miss it.

Imperial Hangar v2 plus more

General Trageton has done it again, the release of the Imperial Hangar v2 has arrived, in this version the outer hangar is much larger, this adds to the respective of the hangar opt. Its not about how big it is or how many craft you could fit in the outer hangar as suggested by some idiot.

He has also added a mini hangar from where the Tie Fighters look like they come from along the Tie racks, the textures have also been tweaked which make them look a lot better.

The addition of a Tie Bomber has been added along with the four Tie Fighters that where in the beta version, these Ties have had all the meshes reduced to cut down the number of meshes in the final opt.

Like the BETA version when installing the Hangar some other item will also be replaced, these items include the roof crane, and the small hangar crate, these are replaced with a small cube which is out of sight below the floor. The other items are the Generator and Monitor stations, I also have replaced a few textures on the Monitor Station and zeroed out all the software vectors, making the textures sharper.

I suspect that this will be the last version of the Imperial Hangar, so please don't start complaining about the Rebel craft that are still in the hangar, sorry but there isn't anything you can do about this unless you start changing slots about

You can download this new version from the Hangar's Section

Plus More

So what is the Plus bit all about well I have updated all the prequel craft Naboo, Droid Fighter and so on

I'll tell you a little more about them

Naboo Fighter: The pilot has been replaced with the newer version, the same applies to the R2 Unit, and a few cockpit textures have been updated with sharper more realistic versions, and last but not least a new LOD model has bee added.

Droid Fighter: The craft has been re-sized making it smaller; the stats have changed usually one shot will make a kill, but remember its about half the size it originally was so much harder to hit, and last a new LOD model. Like the first version, this craft comes with two versions one with one wing and one with closed wings. The one wing version fires four lasers plus it has torpedoes, but the closed wing version only fires torpedoes.

Nubian Royal Starship: Some textures have been altered so it looks slightly different from the last version. The opt size is that small that I couldn't be bothered to add a LOD, Sorry!

Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator: All software vectors have been zeroed making the textures sharper. Sorry no LOD couldn't be bothered

Raith Sienar's Armed Courier: Same as Sith Infiltrator

Trade Federation Landing Craft C-9979: All software vectors have been zeroed making the textures sharper. Sorry no LOD couldn't be bothered

Trade Federation Droid Control Ship: The craft has been re-sized making it slightly larger, hardpoints have been sorted out. Plus some textures have been altered making the craft darker and more defined.

"NEW" Trade Federation Battleship: So what's the difference between the Droid Control Ship and the Trade Federation Battleship, well not a lot really, all I have done is to remove the Antenna Dishes from the opt to create this. The craft has been re-sized making slightly larger, hardpoints have been sorted out. Some textures have been altered making the craft darker and more defined.

Theed Hangar: The Theed hangar has had a slight update, making it compatible with the resized Shuttle. Some textures have been altered. Plus I have placed it into a Xmod.

You can download all of the above from the Episode 1 Opts Section

Enjoy!

NEW T-65T X-Wing "Tandem X" Released

Again working in collaboration with someone, this time though it's The Saxman. I would like to thanks him for allowing me to texture and opt the T-65T X-Wing, I might be presuming too much but I think I did a pretty good job on the textures which where all made from scratch using the picture below as reference.

It's based on the X-wing variant which first appeared in the Star Wars: Crimson Empire II Graphic novel (see picture above) and has not appeared in the official literature since. The Saxman mentions "The ship was modeled mostly out of boredom and after flipping through Star Wars: Crimson Empire II. I found the design quite interesting and thought it would make for a great OPT".

Please Note that due to some issues with the stats the Tandem-X replaces the Missile Boat in order to work properly. So it might be a good idea to backup the stats for the Missile Boat before installing this Xmod.

It comes with its own Skirmish, Hud and Map icon Dat's.

Anyhow I hope you really enjoy this craft

The T-65T X-Wing can be downloaded from the Alliance Fighters Section or from The Saxman's website at SaxSoft Productions

Oh just a small note, I have given permission to the guys over at Free Worlds: A Freelancer TC Mod to use any of the craft from this site for there Mod, but can I just point out that the T-65T X-Wing is NOT to be used without permission from The Saxman and myself before-hand.

Enjoy.

Custom Uglies

Before I take you through what I've made for you, a quick warning

PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT AS FROM SATURDAY 17TH MAY 2003 THE DEATHSEED, ASHGARD SERIES OF FIGHTERS AND THE DRAGON-CLASS FIGHTERS WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE SITE, IF YOU DON'T HAVE THEM AND YOU WISH TO KEEP THEM, THEN DOWNLOAD THEM NOW!

You can download all of them from the General Fighters Section.

On a side note, all the craft I make are free to use any shipset or campaign, you don't have to email me each time asking for permission, all I ask is that you place my name and what I have done in your credits.

Next thing, I keep getting e-mails from people asking to use the Craft in games other than X-Wing: Alliance, sorry but I can't allow the craft to be used if I don't own that certain game my self, so games like Freelancer, any Star Trek themed game, Operation Flashpoint and so on I'm going to have to say NO, sorry but that's how it's going to be! If I do find out if any of the craft have been used in any other game with out my permission, I'll make your life hell.

BEFORE YOU INSTALL ANY OF THE BELOW CRAFT, MAKE SURE YOU READ THE INSTALLATION NOTE FIRST!

I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!

I knew I forgot something, here are the dat files for the Uglies, it's in Xmod Format so presuming you have installed them in the correct slots i.e. slots 35,36,37 and 38 this will work, if you have been so stupid as to install them in other slots tough it wont work!!

You can also download these from the General Fighters Section.

Ok now to the Uglies, the first is a fighter based on a design by Alfred Wong from Talon's Starbase called the "Vornskyr" after the deadly Force-sensitive hunting beast, however the ship itself is far from formidable.

The craft is made from salvaged components of half of an X-Wing and half a TIE-Fighter it's armed with 2 Ion Cannon Turrets (Please note the turrets are NOT enabled due to the meshes being made from two components). It also retains the X-Wing warhead launchers and 2 fixed laser cannons. Even though it is well armed, it fly's like a crippled slug, due to its unconventional design. So don't expect a super ship, its far from it.

The next is the X-TIE one of the most common Uglies, fighters cobbled together from the salvaged remains of other fighters, in use, the X-TIE combines the hull of an X-Wing with the radiator panels of the TIE fighter.

Two variations are commonly in use the X-TIE (Laser) replaces the warhead launchers with lasers, and the X-TIE (Torpedo) retains one warhead launcher, with the other warhead launcher replaced with a laser.

This version your hopefully about to download has both Laser Hardpoints

Please read the installation notes about how to install the second variant of the X-TIE

The last is the TYE-Wing, this Ugly, also known as the DIE-Wing because of its poor performance, consists of a TIE Fighter's cockpit mounted on the engine pods of a Y-Wing. A very common ugly but suffers from incredibly poor handling which it inherited from the construction required to mount the cockpit to the engines and has no shields. In certain circles, these Uglies were also known as TYE Fighters or TIE-Y Uglies.

All these fighter come with Base, Exterior and Cockpits apart from the TYE-Wing, which uses the standard TIE Fighter Cockpit.

They come in Zip files, but I have included BHE stats, MXvTED *.shp file and instructions on how to change the X-TIE to the second version and how to add the cockpit for the TYE-Wing!

They will replace anything you have in slots 35, 36, 37 and 38 so backup your files first

All stats where kindly provided by The Saxman.

All the new fighters can be downloaded from the General Fighters Section, I apologise in advance for splitting the downloads as I'm having bandwidth problems.

BEFORE YOU INSTALL ANY OF THE ABOVE CRAFT, MAKE SURE YOU READ THE INSTALLATION NOTE FIRST!

I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!

Imperial Hangar BETA v1.1 Released

General Trageton contacted after the release of the Replacement Droids and asked if I would host his Beta version of the Imperial Hangar, I agreed so here it is.

I took the liberty of changing and adding a few things to it, not much I just added a few TIE Fighters, made the hangar slightly larger and a few other bits and pieces, I then sent it to General Trageton for approval, and after a few tweaks, you now have version 1.1 to play around with. When installing the Hangar some other item will also be replaced, these item will include the roof crane, and the small hangar crate, these are replaced with a small cube which is out of sight below the floor. The other items are the Generator and Monitor stations, I also have replaced a few textures on the Monitor Station and zeroed out all the software vectors, making the textures sharper.

Plans to make a version 2 are hopefully still on the cards, if there is anything to correct it will be done then

Along with the Imperial Hangar you can now download a pack of Imperial Hangar Extra's, the Extras included in this patch refer to the other items found in the Hangar; there are a few options for you to choose before installation so please read below.

With the Hangar Crane (the one on the floor) you have a choice of options:

Hangar Crane will replace it with an ATST (All Terrain Scout Transport) the Head rotates***
Hangar Crane (Blank) will replace it with a blank cube which is below the floor giving the impression that it isn't there.
Hangar Crane (Original) will restore the original Floor Crane

*** Note: the ATST’s Head rotates all the way around, sorry but this is governed by the exe and can’t be solved.

With the Hangar Workstand you also have a few options:

Hangar Workstand DSD will replace them with a Death Star Droid
Hangar Workstand PROT will replace them with a Silver Protocol Droid
Hangar Workstand (Blank) will replace them with a blank cube which is below the floor giving the impression that it isn't there.
Hangar Workstand (Original) will restore the original Workstand

Sounds (Imperial) these will replace four wav files, giving the hangar a more Imperial ambiance, since the roof crane has been removed or replaced the crane sounds have been replaced with blank wav files.

Sounds (Original) will restore all wav files replaced with the above mentioned wav files

When installing DO NOT Select similar named files at the same time

So a typical installation for the Imperial Hangar Extras would be to select

Hangar Crane
Hangar Workstand DSD
Sounds (Imperial)

No, I haven't finished yet, just today I put together a few more replacements for the Hangar Workstand; there are a few options for you to choose before installation so please read below.

Hangar Workstand Gold will replace them with a Gold Protocol Droid
Hangar Workstand Rebel will replace them with an Rebel Soldier
Hangar Workstand Storm will replace them with an Imperial Storm Trooper

The Gold Protocol Droid is meant for installation into the Calamari Hangar and the Storm Trooper is meant for the Imperial Hangar.

Again most of the replacement items are converted from Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast

Last thing, you may noticed on the concourse that the Ugly Emkay Droid has been replaced with a Astromech Droid, this is a little CBM file I put together along time ago, so this gave me the chance to add it in for your pleasure.

All the above items can be downloaded from the Darksaber's Opts Section Hangar Section.

I also recommend you download the Replacement Droids Xmod to replace the Hangar Droids, these will also add to the Imperial Ambiance.

Well that's your lot.

Oh almost forgot

After a very long time in the works Ace Antilles has released some very nice Star Wars PC Game Icons,

Here are a small sample

to read more about them please visit his site The X-wing Outpost

Enjoy!

A Few Updates

Ok! Where do I start, well first off I would like to point out to everyone that Saxman has released his long awaited E-Wing Type C, an excellent looking craft that has been well made you can download it from Saxman's website at SaxSoft Productions

Ok now to my stuff, I hope you like the different layout on this page, please if it causes problem please let me know.

Ok what's new? Well I've remade the Rogue X-Wing, well retextured the 25th Anniversary X-Wing, so your saying what's new about it well.

This new version of the Rogue Xwing, incorporates FG textures from both the old Rogue and Pulsar X-Wings, I decided to remove the Pulsar X-Wing as I wasn't pleased with some of the FG colours.

Along with the Rogue X-wing I have redone the Krayt Dragon X-Wing with the old version I only added one flightgroup colour, but this new version has all four, the Astromech droid also has had a small makeover also, instead of a silver dome with Blue, Red, Gold and Green trim, I have made the new version with Blue, Red, Gold and Green dome with a silver trim.

Due to my ISP and crappy connection, trying to upload the Krayt Dragon X-Wing so many times and failing, I have had to split the files into three, Base, Exterior and Cockpit, so you will have to download them separately then install them.

Along with these two I have slightly updated the K-Wing and E-Wing adding to both cockpit glass, new pilot heads and LOD's I've also zeroed all the software vectors. Although its no worth mentioning the E-Wing due to the release of Saxman's New version I have also removed the pirate FG and replaced it with green.

Both cockpits have had a slight makeover, Abolisher sent me a version of the cockpits with some different textures, so theses replaces the old versions.

Sorry but these won't be updated or remade anymore.

All the above opts can be downloaded from the Alliance Fighters Section.

Last but not least you may have noticed the picture of the Droids to the right, well I had to make something new for you, so following the theme with the New Calamari Hangar I have made a few new Droids to go into it, well I say made I actually converted these Droids from Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. They are replacements for the R2D2.opt as seen in the main game and the HangarDroid.opt and the HangarDroid2.opt which are seen in the Hangar. Instead of making new models and textures, I thought bugger it and converted these instead. Well nobody else thought of it so there you go.

You have a choice of Droids to install for either the Calamari Hangar or Imperial Hangar. (If and when made). ?

The Astromech Droids

The R2D2 comes with Flightgroup colours

RED (default) = Standard R2D2 colours
YELLOW = Imperial colours
BLUE = Standard R2D2 colours
GREEN = Imperial colours

The R5D4 doesn't have any FG colours but make a change from the R2D2 version. When installing either one of these I have included a DATech picture which replaces R2D2 seen in the Skirmish section of the game with either the R2 of R4 pictures.

The Hangar Droid

Any of these Droids will replace the Missile Truck Droid. I've included the Original TG Hangar Droid so if at anytime you have had enough of seeing the new Droids these can easily be installed to the original version.

So what do we have? Well first the R2D2 or R4D5 both these Droids have all three feet and the heads rotate.

You can install the Standard R2D2 an Imperial version or a R5D4 version which roam around moving there heads.

The Mouse Droid doesn't do a lot as it just scoots around the floor

The Interrogator Droid, again doesn't do a lot but it floats about 1.5m above the ground.

I've included the Imperial R2D2, Interrogator Droid or the Mouse Droid for Imperial purposes only, meaning in the event of an Imperial Hangar, but it’s up to you if you wish to mix and match.

The Hangar Droid Two

Any of these Droids will replace the Little Blue Droid. I've included the Original TG Hangar Droid2 so if at anytime you have had enough of seeing the new Droids these can easily be installed to the original version.

This is the Imperial Probe Droid as seen on Hoth in ESB, it floats about 3m above the hangar floor. There are two versions, one a Rebel version for the Calamari Hangar, (Yes I know what your thinking, the Rebels didn't have Probe Droids, so who cares humour me). ?

The Imperial version is the Standard Black colour for use with an Imperial Hangar.

The Rebel version is a sandy brown colour with a few Rebel logos on it.

Anyhow I hope you like the change>

You can download all these from the "New" Droids Section.

That's it for another month so

Enjoy!
