Sienar Fleet Systems TIE Phantom v2

Based on the original design by Tom Grays

Ok first things first, don't mistake this craft as the V-38 it's not!

This is the TIE Phantom, according to Star Wars Technical Commentaries the V-38 shares features with the TIE Phantom. The basic hull, engine and wing configurations of the V-38 are probably the same as the Phantom but the cockpit is certainly a standard TIE ball, attached to the main hull, rather than the makeshift conical alternative used on the transitional Phantom.

After the battle of Yavin and the destruction of the Death Star, the Rebels proved that they were a serious threat to the Empire. The Empire, forced to take that threat seriously, responded with new technology and weapons such as the Dark Trooper project and the TIE Phantom. The TIE Phantom research, under the direction of Admiral Sarn, was conducted in the Dreighton Nebula. The Nebula, the site of a major battle in the Old Republic was rumoured to be haunted and Spacer legends of ships disappearing within its boundaries were legion. This provided perfect cover for development of a top secret stealth starfighter.

The TIE Phantom packs greater than normal firepower for a starfighter of its class. However the main improvement of the ship was a cloaking device. With the stealth shield in place, short and long range delectability of the ship was almost nonexistent. Should the Phantom ever go into wide production, the Empire would gain a decisive advantage; however the cost of such fighters is prohibitive and Imperial High Command is reluctant to order a vast production run in the face of such expenses.

Note : It is very important for you to read the Installation Notes and Changing the Laser Hardpoints sections before installing this craft. Be it on your own head if you screw it up!

This Xmod will replace the craft you have installed in slot #33. Sorry but I thought this craft was good enough to be given its own slot, instead of you choosing which slot it is placed, so before installing, backup or allocate a different slot for your previous craft.

Sienar Fleet Systems TIE Lancer or TIE Torpedo Launcher v1

Based on the original design from the CG Movie Join the Empire by Marco Spitoni

The TIE Lancer also known as the TIE-TL (Torpedo Launcher) was designed and conceived by Marco Spitoni for 'Join the Empire'.

It comes with it's own cockpit, which has been redesigned to enhance the features of the exterior model.

The TIE/TL was one of the successors to the Tie Bomber, designed to excel in space warfare, the TIE/TL is a small fast fighter with a torpedo launcher capable of handing out significant levels of damage to even capital ships. The TIE/TL is recognisably one of the Tie series, with a single solar panel which acts as an aerofoil to keep the fighters manueverability excellent even within an atmosphere. These fighters featured in many propaganda films for the Empire due to their good looks and efficient design, however in reality they have only been built and used in moderate numbers due to their high cost and maintanence needs. But after the Battle of Endor, the Empire resources were reduced, and fighter transports and disposable fighters fell out of fashion with Imperial forces, the TIE/TL was already equipped and ready to take advantage of this new doctrine, and began to be used in larger numbers as this shift in Imperial policy caused more fighters with shields and hyperdrives to be brought into service.

181st Imperial Fighter Wing ‘Elite’ TIE Interceptor

The 181st Imperial Fighter Wing was initially equipped with the T/F starfighters, the Empire's most common space superiority fighter. It was not until after the Battle of Hoth that the unit upgraded to the faster, more maneuverable, and better-armed T/I Interceptor, a more elite fighter for what was already known as an elite unit. It was with the interceptor that the 181st pioneered their signature marking, the red horizontal stripes along the interceptor's horizontally-aligned wings, and it was with the interceptor that the 181st stayed for another decade, becoming among the most expert pilots of the interceptor alive.

The 181st Imperial Fighter Wing was an elite TIE unit serving the Galactic Empire and its descendants. At its height under the Empire, it was a three-squadron unit known as the 181st Imperial Fighter Group and distinguished by the red bloodstripes that marked the wings of its TIE interceptors. Initially the 181st Imperial Fighter Wing of the Galactic Empire, it suffered from an abysmal reputation. Commanded by Colonel Evir Derricote, the 181st had lax discipline and low morale. It enjoyed a tremendous improvement with the arrival of Captain Soontir Fel in 0 BBY. Fel took command of the second squadron of the wing and quickly whipped it into shape with intense discipline and drilling.

When called to fight in the Second Battle of Ord Biniir, Fel's squadron significantly outperformed its Rebel opposition. It so happened that the battle occurred on the same day as the Imperial loss at the Battle of Yavin, and the success at Ord Biniir was propagandized heavily. Fel was promoted, and the unit was downsized to a group of three squadrons and completely reformed with an elite roster. While Derricote remained in command, Fel was the true force behind the unit's success as it became one of the Empire's premier fighter groups.

Fel took formal command in 3 ABY, when he was promoted to colonel and given the title of Baron of the Empire. Fel led the 181st for another two years before he was captured by the New Republic during the 181st's defeat at the Battle of Brentaal IV. Turr Phennir became the unit's commander, continuing to lead it through the turbulent times of the Empire's fall, becoming a general in the Imperial Remnant and finding the 181st a place there. The organization survived the changeover from the Remnant to the revived Galactic Empire, serving Fel's descendant Emperors, and eventually was reorganized as a wing once more.

Emperor's Royal Guard TIE Interceptor

The Emperor's Royal Guard TIE/IN starfighter was a specially modified version of the TIE/IN interceptor. These TIE Interceptors were flown only by Emperor Palpatine's Royal Guard.

These starfighters were commonly used to escort Emperor Palpatine's Lambda-class shuttle and its decoys during his travels. Displaying the distinctive crimson red color of the Royal Guard, these deadly war machines struck fear into any opposing fighters. Royal Guard fighter wings were thought to even rival the skills of elite pilots from the 181st Imperial Fighter Wing and Rogue Squadron. These fighters were said to have been commissioned by Palpatine himself.

Under the supervision of Darth Vader, Imperial workers spent many long hours modifying TIE Interceptor fighters, including installing additional flaps on the curves of the wings. Unlike the original TIE Interceptor, the Royal Guard TIE Interceptor was equipped with a built-in hyperdrive and shield generator, while also having blazing speeds and fantastic maneuverability that exceeded that of its fleet counterpart. On very rare occasions, these fighters found places outside of the Royal Guard, and were thus subject to even further modification, including more devastating weapons, more advanced shielding technologies, and, in rare cases, ordnance launchers. By contrast, regular Interceptors with similar added equipment, such as shield projectors, warhead launchers, and hyperdrives (for instance that of Apwar Trigit) suffered reduced speed and maneuverability.

TIE Interdictor

TIE Interdictor

The next enhanced TIE Bomber model, after the TIE Heavy Bomber, became the T/INT. This enhanced bomber has the same basic features but nearly four times the firepower of the TIE Bomber. The propulsion engine is also in this model upgraded to compensate for the added mass, thereby giving it the speed of the standard TIE Bomber. This is one of the most powerful fighters in the Imperial arsenal. Carrying 12 warhead launchers with a total of 48 Missiles and 16 Torpedoes, 16 Proximity Mines or 72 Free falling Thermal Detonators.

Still the TIE Interdictor is a vulnerable target and most be escorted into battle by a minimum of 4 TIE Fighters or Interceptors. To cut down production prize Naval R&D has chosen not to equip the TIE Interdictor with a shield generator. But in battles it has shown that the heavy bomber has been a target of intensive aggression. The enemies fear the TIE Interdictor to such an extent that they concentrate much of their firepower towards it, in the hope of bringing it down before it can launch its deadly warheads. Mostly this diversion of fire is only in the Empires favor, as the other involved strike craft gets much easier attack runs with minimal resistance. But the TIE Interdictor is because of this not a favored craft among bomber pilots. Many would rather prefer to battle in a standard TIE Bomber. But it has not yet been a problem to recruit TIE Interdictor pilots as the model is not produced in large quantities and is only deployed in "special" operations with high priority.

In the years between the Imperial I and Imperial II Death Stars, the TIE Interdictor was frequently used by the forces of Lord Darth Vader, in his quest to bring down the Rebel forces. But since that time and after the development of the TIE Scimitar Assault Bomber, the TIE Interdictor has nearly gone out of production. Nevertheless, few fleets still order and conduct operations with TIE Interdictors.

The Galactic Empire's TIE Interdictor bomber had wings and a command module which were nearly identical to those found on a TIE Bomber. However, the command module was flanked on both sides by a pair of ordnance pods, for a total of four. They can also include enhanced sensors.

The ship was piloted by one individual, and was equipped with shields. The armor was stronger than other TIE models, but the craft did not include a hyperdrive. The TIE Interdictor was armed with linked laser cannons and ordnance pods, able to carry concussion missiles or proton torpedoes, and twin linked versions of the TIE Bomber's proton bomb bays. Their ordnance can also be expanded to include plasma torpedoes, flechette torpedoes, advanced homing missiles, cluster mines, and ion bombs.

The TIE Interdictor was used by the Empire during the Galactic Civil War. The Interdictor was developed as an advanced TIE model following the Battle of Yavin. The craft was to be used in assault missions where Star Destroyers could not venture, and earned an effective reputation as they hunted Rebel bases. Redline used a TIE Interdictor at least once, and the Interdictor was also used for the Cutlass Squadron.

Three of them attacked the Rebel's Massassi Station during the evacuation of Yavin, although they were destroyed by concussive charges placed by General Jan Dodonna.

During the attack on Cloud City in 3 ABY, eight bombers were sent in as support units to occupy the city.

Several months later, at least one TIE Interdictor was still present along with other Imperial forces at a Kessel Detention Center. The Detention Centers were subsequently liberated by Wookiee forces.

The TIE Interdictors continued to see use after at least 5.5 ABY, with the name "TIE Punisher", and included weaponry such as Flechette torpedoes.

TIE Shuttle

The TIE Shuttle was a short-range personal priority shuttle manufactured by Sienar Fleet Systems as part of the TIE Series. Like the similar T/BR boarding shuttle, the T/SH was one of the more successful variant models of Sienar's basic TIE Bomber design. The T/SH afforded room for up to four individuals as well as additional cargo in its well-appointed port-side passenger pod. Measuring 7.8 meters long and not designed for combat, the T/SH was equipped with a single laser cannon and a shield generator but lacked other advances. The Galactic Empire typically used the T/SH to quickly ferry command-level officers between starships and other installations, though the shuttle was an unpopular mode of transportation for those using it, as they preferred the luxury of the larger Lambda-class shuttle.

The Imperial Navy made extensive use of the T/SH during the Hoth campaign of 3 ABY, employing the shuttle as a substitute for standard comm traffic between the Star Destroyers of Darth Vader's Imperial Death Squadron, which would have interfered with the mission's vital sensor scans and probe droid transmissions. Captain Lorth Needa of the Imperial Star Destroyer Avenger made his final space voyage aboard a T/SH before suffering execution at Vader's hands for failing to capture the Rebel starship Millennium Falcon in the Hoth asteroid field.

Sienar Fleet Systems TIE Storm ‘Stormtrooper Shuttle’ v1

The TIE Storm was a long-range troop shuttle manufactured by Sienar Fleet Systems as part of the TIE Series. Used to transport Stormtrooper’s (thus the name of the craft) on covert missions. The T/ST afforded room for up to eight individuals as well as equipment and a small amount of cargo in its well-appointed port-side passenger pod. Measuring 7.8 meters long and not designed for combat, the T/ST was equipped with a dual laser cannons, a shield generator and a hyperdrive.

The inverted wings are a nod to the shuttle seen in the Empire Strikes Back, we catch a glimpse of Captain Needa’s shuttle exiting a Star Destroyer and rocketing over to Vader’s Super Star Destroyer. It occurs between Yoda’s “That is why you fail” line and Vader’s “Apology accepted, Captain Needa” line. Most model fans agree that it was most likely the TIE Bomber model, with its wings flipped around (so that the angled outwards), but the resolution is so poor and the model is so small against the screen, it could be anything.

The paint scheme is a nod to the Stormtrooper Transport.

Sienar Fleet Systems TIE Heavy Bomber v1

The standard TIE Bombers was developed to replace the aging T/GT fighters. The new bombers were heavier and more deadly against larger targets. But still before final testing had ended and before line production had begun, some Imperial officers from the Starfleet Research and Development Group wanted even heavier bombers build. The Rebellion had been spreading like a virus from planet to planet and had become a serious threat, one to be reckoned with. The Rebel forces recently encountered by the Starfleet had been more well equipped and in larger numbers than ever before. And with help from the ugly and repulsive Mon Calamari specie and their huge MC cruisers, they had already managed to take out large Imperial installations and even a few Imperator Class Stardestroyers. Direct fleet to fleet battles had not until recently occurred between Rebel and Imperial forces. The R&D officers anticipated a much larger threat from Rebel capital and command ships in the near future and therefor started their own development and testing of medium and heavy versions of the TIE Bomber.

The new bombers should be able to take the TIE Bombers role in full scale fighter assaults. Primary in assault on larger ground and space installations or capital spacecraft. By carrying a bigger payload of warheads, they could speed up the final destruction of the enemy, and thereby saving many Imperial fighters from the enemy’s guns and artillery, hopefully without having to withdraw during battle for re-supplement of Warheads.

The first enhanced TIE Bomber model became the T/HBM. This enhanced bomber has the same basic features but nearly twice the firepower of the TIE Bomber. The propulsion engine is upgraded to compensate for the added mass of the craft, thereby giving it the speed of the standard TIE Bomber.

The idea of the Rebel forces becoming a "real" threat to the unmatched Imperial Military was by many high ranking seniors considered pure nonsense. The Rebellion was a political situation and not a major military conflict - how could they possibly pose any danger to the Starfleet. All the persons involved in the development of the TIE Heavy Bomber were soon retired from active duty. Sadly the project leader Commodore Korin Maxus took his own life after this humiliating incident. The project and the TIE Heavy Bomber production was immediately closed down.

But 3 months later, just after the destruction of the Imperial I Death Star at Yavin, the group was in all haste ordered back to R&D. They should continue their development of heavy assault TIE bombers. If possible they should develop an even heavier bomber.

TIE Tri Bomber

Sienar Fleet Systems TIE Tri Bomber v1

The TIE Tri Bomber was not as common as the Empire's Tie Bomber. While slower and less manoeuvrable than standard starfighters, these bombers provide excellent "surgical strike" potential against ground and deep space targets.

TIE Tri Bombers have triple pods and elongated solar panels. The center pod holds the pilot's compartment as well as flight computers, communications, and life support. The port and starboard pods contain the forward and main ordnance bays as well as the targeting and delivery systems.

The TIE Tri Bomber's weaponry includes high yield proton bombs, guided concussion missiles, orbital mines, and free falling thermal detonators. Depending on the mission configuration, TIE Tri Bombers can carry sixteen concussion missiles, or eight proton torpedoes in the forward ordnance bays. The main ordnance bays can carry sixteen more concussion missiles, eight additional proton torpedoes, sixteen proton bombs, twelve orbital mines, or one hundred and twenty eight thermal detonators. Four front firing laser cannons are placed between the either side of the cockpit pod providing protection from enemy ships.

Sienar Fleet Systems TIE Scimitar or Scimitar Assault Bomber v2

Twin Engines Version

Scimitar assault bombers are the newest generation of Imperial bombers and were ordered into production when (Grand Admiral Thrawn returned to seize control of the Empire's remnants. The ship is a dedicated atmospheric and spaces bomber with superior performance compared with the standard TIE bomber. It was designed with the assistance of the elite "Scimitar" bomber assault wing, the most decorated active Imperial bomber wing.

The bomber has a single pod with two elongated solar array wings unlike most Imperial vessels; the Scimitar is a two-man ship. The pilot and bomber compartment is in the forward section of the pod and can be quickly ejected from the main hull in the event of a critical hit by enemy gunners. This compartment extends ahead of the wings giving the pilot and bomber superior visibility compared with the TIE bomber.

The navigation and targeting systems, the power generator and the twin repulsorlift engines are housed in the middle of the pod. The repulsor thrusters are placed in the Scimitars wing struts for greater manoeuvrability. The rear portion of the pod contains the bomb bay and the sublight ion engine.

The bomb bay has room for sixteen concussion missiles each with an effective range of nine kilometres. Each warhead is powerful enough to destroy city buildings, reinforced bunkers, heavy repulsorlift speeders or even AT-AT walkers. While the Concussion missile loud is the standard weapon complement, proton grenades and free falling thermal detonators also can be loaded into the Scimitars bomb bays. The linked forward laser cannons have superior computer targeting for strafing runs against enemy troops and other ground targets.

Sienar Fleet Systems TIE GT v2

The TIE/gt, known better as the TIE Ground Targeting, is based on the standard TIE Fighter design but with the main pod elongated to accommodate a bomb bay. The TIE/gt is the predecessor to the TIE Bomber. Perhaps its only advantage over the newer design is that it is more maneuverable than the TIE Bomber because the TIE/gt is so closely related to the TIE Fighter.

The TIE/gt is designed to be dependent on the TIE/fc starfighter, which provides precise targeting information; however, many larger structures can be destroyed even without the TIE/fc's assistance. The TIE/gt's payload can include 6 proton torpedoes, 12 concussion missiles, 18 air-deployed mines, 2 cluster bombs, or 20,000 flimsiplast leaflets when used for propaganda missions.

After the introduction of the TIE Bomber, the Imperial Navy transferred the TIE/gt to outlying posts, lower-priority assignments, and the Imperial Army as support craft, as quickly as the datawork could be filed. Army resistance and legitimate lack of demand slowed down the process but, for the most part, the TIE/gt has been successfully replaced by the TIE Bomber.

Although the TIE GT carries 12 Concussion Missiles as a standard payload, the missile launcher can handle other payloads such as: 6 Proton Torpedoes, 18 Air-Deployed Mines, 2 Cluster Bombs.

Note :
  • 1. The TIE GT comes with its own cockpit, please read the release note for installation
  • 2. The TIE GT being older than the TIE Bomber has the greyer hull plating.
  • 3. I wasn't sure from where the GT fired it's missiles from, so I comprised and made the lower section of the GT a missile launcher carrying 12 single missiles.
